I was offered to go to Turkmenistan today.
For a week.
Site-visiting one of the offshore platforms Im working on.
I would receive survival allowances, and allowance to buy clothing to fit the weather.
After many thoughts, I declined.
Sadly, Turk is one of those country that to my opinion has sexism issues.
And sexism exist becoz of the people's mentality.
All woman have to be escorted by a male, and on the contrary of you were found alone wt a male, then God knows what will happen.
A friend of mine was recently posted there.
I like wanted to go yolo and visit him, until he told me on his second nite, police raided his home wanting all expat in their homes by 11pm.
I then had to forgo my yolo.
Then came this offer today.
My very fear is being kidnapped.
My life is not so much of my worry.
It's those I leave behind.
Max.
Having said that, I convinced myself:
- My SAFETY passport expired back in 2008.
- I would have to go tru another crazy BOSET, which stands for Basic 0ffshor3 Satety Escape Training. And HUET - Helicopter Underwater Escape Training. Yada yada
- Been there, done that.
- Im too "young" for this.
With that, I walked into my co-worker's room and declined politely.
To conclude, my ruff-necking days are over.
aku rasa the biggest problem is having to stare at the portrait of the president during the long flight from bangkok to ashgabat. ...though I think you can take dubai-ashgabat. LOL... interesting country to say the least.
